Saaremaa is a unique Estonian island where the wild nature meets cold sea climate creating the environment for rare plants and herbs.
In order to survive the extraordinary climate, the unique plants of Saaremaa accumulate rare essential oils, nutrition materials and antioxidants. Therefore, they have unique properties, capable to improve the overall tonus and if used regularly — slow down the skin ageing.
Althea Officinalis Root Extract
Description
The origin of the word “althea” is Greek “althos” that means “physician” and it reflects the centuries-long tradition of medical use of the herb.
Ancient Greeks said that althea was the “herb against all illnesses”. They mixed althea with honey, wine, other medical herbs and treated injuries, abscesses, swells and blotches with it.
Althea Officinalis Root Extract can be used as a calming agent in the drugs for sensible, injured, or burnt skin.
In the hair cosmetics, it moisturizes hair and protects it from aggressive effects of the environment.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
The roots contain up to 37% of starch, glairs (up to 35%), carotene, lecithin, phytosterol, mineral salts and fatty oils. They also contain key amino acids, in particular, asparagine (2 to 19.8%) and betaine (up to 4%).
The leaves also contain mucus, essential oil, rubber-like materials, ascorbic acid, carotene.
The fatty oil of the seeds contains oleic (30.8%), acids α-linolic (52.9%), α-linolenoic (1.85%) and β-linolenoic (0.65%) acids.
Angelica Archangelica Root Water
Description
Angelica roots and seeds are an important source of phytocompounds that actively soften the skin. Many species of angelica are used to develop various cosmetics, including natural and organic cosmetics.
Angelica has both softening and stimulating effect in the same time — it has an evident anti-inflammatory effect and in the same time it stimulates skin microcirculation due to the high contents of coumarins and ferule acid. Higher blood circulation stimulates active regeneration, cell proliferation and rejuvenation of tissues that makes angelica a power repairing agent.
It has anti-inflammation and stimulating effects. It tones the skin, cleaning it at the same time.
In come compounds, angelica extract has an impressive skin lifting effect and also stimulates high collagen production.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Angelica is a big umbrella plant. Roots and root structures contain up to 1% of essential oil, coumarin, organic acids, resins, phytosterols. Phellandrene is the main oil component. The essential oil has a pleasant flower smell. It is used in perfume and food industries. The root extract has anti-microbe, calming and anti-inflammatory properties.

Avena Sativa Kernel Extract (Oat Extract)
Oat extract (Avena sativa) is one of the most safe and efficient components that can be found in the skin and hair cosmetics. Oat extract has a lot of functions — it is emollient, nourishing, protective and revitalizing agent, it is also an anti-inflammatory and moisturizing element with powerful anti-oxidant properties. The herb has high anti-oxidant contents, inti-inflammatory and calming properties.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Oat extract contains amine acids, vitamins A, B1, B2, PP, K and E, mineral materials (phosphorus, iron, cobalt, manganese), large amounts of zinc and silicone acid. All these are very important for skin protein formation. Oat extract is widely used in the anti-ageing cosmetics, it efficiently stimulates, lifts, regenerates and smoothens skin, removes wrinkles, moisturizes and softens skin.

Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Marigold Extract)
Description
Marigold has been used in Russia since XII century. Marigold flowers extract is used as cicatrizing, anti-inflammable, bactericidal product and regeneration stimulator. Marigold extract is also used in the products that improve the skin resistance to aggressive factors, like cold and heat.
Marigold extract is added to moisturizing gels and creams, protective and nourishing creams for dry and sensitive skin, sun protection products, lotions and tonics for oily and problem skin, eye skin products, make-up removers, mattifying effect creams, child creams, shaving products, toothpastes and mouth rinses, shampoos and conditioners, hair balsams and masks, medicinal ointments.
Chemical properties
Marigold can be used in the cosmetics as water-insoluble lipophile extract and as powder. Extract and powder are produced from the pot marigold flowers (popular name of Calendula officinalis). The therapeutic effect is due to flavonoids, saponins, terpenes, organic acids, vitamins and tannins contained in the extract.

Centaurea cyanus Flower (Cornflower Extract)
COSMETIC USE (GENERAL)
Blue cornflower is widely used in the medical cosmetics. It has anti-inflammable and cicatrizing effect, so it is used to prevent and eliminate inflammation. Lotions with cornflower extract are used to treat oily and problem skin. The lotions carefully clean the skin, reduce pores, smoothen it and saturate with nourishments. The satin skin effect of the lotions stays long.
Blue cornflower is also used to care the sensitive skin around eyes. The creams containing the active material gently treat the eyelids, remove reddening, oedema, swellings. Cornflower extract is used in shampoos and other hair treatment cosmetics. The plant activate the hair growth, nourish the whole length of the hair, improve the skin of the head. It is also used for shower gels and body lotions.
Chemical properties
The flowers contain tannins, centaurein, ciazin pigment, ascorbic acid, carotene. The cornflower extract tones, biologically stimulates and regenerates skin. In eye products, it reduces swelling, smoothens small wrinkles, relieves irritation. It regulates the secretion of skin glands, reducing pores.

Chamomilla flower Extract (Wild Camomile Extract)
Description
Most Europeans know wild camomile as an anti-flu medical herb. But there it has another unique property: camomile extract absorbs the products of cell metabolism and toxins, i.e. it is a natural detoxicant, and as such it is used in the protective cosmetics.
Azulene is the active material of the flower extract and it has anti-inflammatory, cicatrizing and anti-allergic properties. The extract is used in a wide range of skin and hair care cosmetics, including the children and hypoallergic cosmetics.
Chemical properties
Though camomile looks rather plain, it is very rich with skin healing materials. Flavonoids (quercitine, luteolin and aigenin) ensure the calming and anti-inflammatory effect. Besides, camomile contains a lot of bisabolol, which gives a fast and efficient relaxation if used as a pure material. Camomile is also rich with minerals — the camomile extract contains up to 2% of phosphorus, 1% of potassium, almost 1% of nitrogen, 0.1% of sulphur, about 0.5% of calcium and 0.2% of magnesium.

Melilotus Albus (White Melilot Flower / Leaf / Steam Extract)
Description
People have been using the healing properties of white melilot since ancient times. It was used and repeatedly described by the physicians Dioscorides and Galen of Ancient Rome, Persian physician Avicenna. Paracelsus used white melilot a lot in the Middle Ages.
The plant has anti-inflammatory, expectorative, anti-coagulant, hypotensive, fybrinolytic, anti-septic, softening, sudorific, calming, carminative, cicatrizing, anti-seizure, pain-killing properties.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
The leaves and flowers of the herb contain big amount (up to 0.8%) of cumarin that creates its strong smell. Besides, it contains cumaric acid, melitonine, cumarin products, vitamins C and E, carotene. The herb extract is used as fragrance and as a medium to fix the smell of a perfume product. The proteins, fats and glycosides that are present in the extract are softening and cicatrizing the skin.

White melilot extract is used to produce all Dr- Konopka’s series products.
Secale cereal seed extract
Rye extract has softening, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect. Because of this, we use the rye extract in the problem face skin care products, in the creams and tonics that stimulate the skin cells regeneration, and in the anti-ageing cosmetics.
The shampoos, conditioners and hair masks that contain the extract make the hair shiny and well-cared, stimulate the hair growth.
Biologically active material contains B group vitamins, tocoferol (vitamin E), and a lot of vitamin K1. Hemicellulose improves the skin elasticity, prevents wrinkling, removes the signs of stress. Vitamin K1 helps fighting the dark circles around eyes and signs of couperosis. Vitamin B stimulates skin metabolism, decreases the amounts of decomposition products in the cells, stimulates detoxication.
